St Pietersburg White Nights Watercolor Review and First Impressions + free printable

Today I have a First impressions and review for all you watercolor lovers out there.  I really wanted a artist grade set of watercolors to embark with me on my new found love for watercolors, and after watching so many reviews on all kinds of leading brands out there, I opted to put these on my birthday list.  They are a really good option if you are comparing price vs value.  They retail for $65 for 36 full pan colors.  That comes to a average of $1.8 per full pan or artist grade, light-fast super vibrant pigment!!!  Prima marketing has lovely colors, but they are not artist grade, or light fast, and they come to an average of $1.75 per half pan. Another example is Windsor and Newton cotmans set - 24 half pans for $42 - comes to $1.75 per half pan, Student grade.  There are many examples I can list for you, but these paints are really value for money.

If you want my full honest opinions and see the color swatches, then be sure to check out my YouTube video:

Here is a link to amazon where you can purchase this set at a great price: http://amzn.to/2HRheK6

Step by step tutorial - Mixed media heart canvas

Hi Everyone.

I have a new project to share with you, and I just LOVE how this came out.  I have noticed that I always tend to want to create things with HEARTS, so I'm not going to fight it, just going with the flow, and doing what my HEART tells me...

I have to say, when I started creating this canvas, I really had no idea of what I wanted this to look like in the end, and I LOVE this type of play, because it allows me to play without any expectations.  I wanted to try out a couple of techniques and just see how certain products would interact with each other.  It was a LOVELY surprise how it came out, and I think you will enjoy the process too.

I have created a step by step tutorial for you over on my YouTube channel, so make yourself a cup of coffee or tea and just enjoy.

Weekly Challenge - TEAL

Hi all my friends, today I have a fun project to share with you.

I have started a new challenge on my Facebook sharing group and you can find the prompts in the pined post.

This week the challenge was Teal, which is one of my favorite colors, so luckily I had no problem with that.

Here's how I made it:

Step 1:  Apply texture paste through a stencil.  I used the Faber-Castell mixed media stencil 101.
Step 2:  Apply watered down Calypso Teal acrylic paint from dylusions in some spots, and more strong color in others.
Step 3: Apply liquitex  Ink in turquoise.
Step 4: Apply some Pebeo Gold paint diluted with water in some ares over the texture.
Step 5: Add some Embellishment mousse in Pacific teal.
Step 6: I embellished the tag with a mermaid stamp and colored with copic markers.
Step 7: Add some transparent resin dots

How to Make a Mixed Media Photo Frame

Follow this step by step tutorial on how to make a Mixed Media Photo Frame from scratch.  Easy to follow and delivers great results using things you already have.

STEP-BY-STEP:
Step 1: Cut out a 10cm x 10cm piece of Balsa Wood.  Cut the same dimensions for the back using cardboard.  Cut a smaller piece of clear plastic.
Step 2: Cut a 5cm x 5cm square in the middle of the Balsa wood, for the photo.
Step 3: Stick on all your textured elements and let it dry.
Step 4: Cover the entire frame and embellishments with white gesso and dry completely.
Step 5: Spray with Distress spray stain, let it dry almost completely and then cover the entire frame with white craft glue.  Use a heat tool on it, and let it bubble.
Step 6:  Once dried, dry brush white gesso on, and layer with Pebeo iridescent paints, Nuvo Embellishment mouse, and Faber Castell texure lux.
Step 7: Add glue to the back of your frame, make sure to especially cover the edges of the inside square.  Stick the clear plastic to create the window.
Step 8:  Add glue to 3 sides of the outside edges of your frame, leaving the top side without glue, where you will slip in your photo.  Add a back stand for your frame to stand on its own.
Step 9: Once dried, add your 5cm x 5 cm photo. You’re done!

Mixed media fairy

https://youtu.be/cplOrLHqc-0

New video process up on YouTube.  I have noticed that my regular audience don't seem to be that interested in faces that I draw, so I didn't elaborate on it to much in this video. Although, some techniques and tricks can be used for other things like in an art journal. Inspiration is everywhere.

Hope you will enjoy this quick video.

Thanks for popping by.
